JAKARTA – To support BAZNAS to be a professional zakat institution through a research-based programs, Puskas BAZNAS aims to be a center of knowledge dissemination and intellectual excellence. In order to enhance its role, one of Puskas BAZNAS’s functions is as a zakat data center in Indonesia. In doing the function, Puskas BAZNAS conducted a study visit to similar institutions in an effort to manage zakat statistical information and research methodology.

On Tuesday (24/01), Puskas BAZNAS visited Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS). Puskas BAZNAS, represented by Division of Publication and Network and Division of Secretary, was welcomed by Division of Public Relation of BPS. This initial meeting opened cooperation opportunities between those institutions.

“We hope the communication (between the institutions) will not end up here. We can make a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to cooperate in doing statistical research,” said Eko Oesman, Head of Division of Public Relation of BPS.

Also attended the meeting, Head of Census and Survey Design Development Section in Social Statistics, Muhardi Kahar. He revealed his interest in the field of zakat, and said that the cooperation with Puskas BAZNAS is also the moral responsibility of BPS.
