Mohammed Lawal Maidoki, Chairman of Zakat and Endowment Commission of Sokoto State, Nigeria visit The National Board of Zakat, the Republic of Indonesia (BAZNAS) Jakarta, Thursday (12/01). The visit is part of zakat and waqf study of Sokoto state in Indonesia which is scheduled on 12 to 18 January 2017.
The moment was an opportunity to exchange experiences on the zakat management between Indonesia and Nigeria. Therefore, the delegation is invited to see the implementation of productive-based zakat programs in Yogyakarta province and Sukabumi regency.

During the event, Board members of Baznas, Prof. Dr. KH Ahmad Satori Ismail and KH. Masdar Farid Mas'udi, describe what have been done by Baznas in organizing zakat collection and distribution, one of which is on how to use information technology in running the entire management of zakat in Indonesia, not only implemented in the financial reporting zakat system, but also applied in various inter-agency coordination link throughout Indonesia, which consists of 34 Baznas provinces and 514 Baznas regencies/cities.
Various explanation has received positive appreciation from the Nigerian delegation. He also took the opportunity to ask Baznas Board Members a lot of aspects related to zakat programs of Baznas. For example he wanted to know more about the minimum income standard that is eligible and obligatory for paying zakat, the payroll system of amil zakat, fund raising system of Baznas, zakat distribution and allocation system, and others.
It is expected that this visit will strengthen collaboration between the two countries. (puskasbaznas.com)
