The National Zakat Board (BAZNAS) builds the installation of drinking water sterilization in An-Nur Mosque, Asmat Regency, Papua province. This installation was built in two locations, at An-Nur Mosque which was the center for Crisis Team and in Asmat Hospital.
Director of BAZNAS Zakat Distribution Mohd Nasir Tajang said the drinking water would be developed with a cheap payment system or barter with plastic waste from drinking water.
Asmat regent is very happy and hopes that the case of illness due to unhealthy water consumption will be reduced and public health will increase, said Nasir in a written statement received by Republika.co.id, Jakarta, Wednesday (14/3).
The event which was attended by elements of muspida, religious leaders, and local community leaders is expected to be developed into a clean and beautiful city of Agats district, Asmat. For patients treated at the RSUD (government regional hospital) will be provided for free. At the same time, BAZNAS Free Hospital (RSBI) Director dr. Meizi Fachrizal, explained one of the biggest problems in the community in Asmat Regency is the difficulty of getting clean water.
"Until now the whole community still relies entirely on rainwater that is contained in the kiln," said Fachri who heads six branches of BAZNAS Free Hospital (RSBI) in several provinces of Indonesia.
This condition causes many cases of illness caused by lack of clean water, such as diarrhea, skin diseases, and so on. The problem of clean water is a factor in the incidence of measles and malnutrition in Asmat Regency some time ago.
To get clean water, people have to buy mineral water in packs, cooking water with gas stoves or oil stoves which are relatively expensive. With the average low income of the community, this certainly burdensome for them.
Not a few people are directly consuming rainwater. "If this problem is not resolved, the case is unlikely to be repeated," he said.
One of the environmental health experts with joining Baznas Center's Crisis Budi Laksono, adds to the drinking water installation program using extremely cheap and practical ultraviolet and ozone systems. By making this installation, people will get healthy drinking water at low prices, so the family economy is helped. Each of these installations will produce 1,000 liters of drinking water per day.
Since its inception, the case of measles and malnutrition in Asmat Regency, BAZNAS formed the Crisis Center Team to assist the government in overcoming the incident. BAZNAS realizes health programs, assistance in food granary facilities and provision of clean water. Currently, there are two established BAZNAS health posts, i.e in Agats District and Peer District.
