The National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) of Jambi committed to eradicating poverty by capital assistance to eight groups of asnaf in the area.
"We are determined to eradicate poverty and hope that the zakat recipients (mustahik) in the future will be the giver (muzzaki)," said Chairman of BAZNAS Jambi, Aminullah Hamid in Jambi, Monday (12/6).
According to Aminullah, starting this year, BAZNAS Jambi provides cash assistance program to small business actors.
"However, the society in Jambi Province should improve their welfare and poverty alleviation is the solving problem through our program," he added.
The assistance for small business actors have been channeled by BAZNAS to 350 people. BAZNAS will control the business, if there an improvement, BAZNAS will give another assistance. The capital distribute to small businesses as meatballs traders, retail oil traders and tofu seller it around. Aminullah hopes they can be independent, even in the future can be a Muzakki.
Zakat recipients are verified and in line with an asnaf provision. The number of recipients still small due to collecting zakat fund is still limited.
In obtaining the capital assistance, the prospective recipient submits BAZNAS by attaching information from the Neighborhood Association about the small business and attaching the photo of the place of business.
In addition, BAZNAS also has a program of guidance in the Children's Tribe (Suku Anak Dalam) and scholarships. Where among of them schooled to madrasah or boarding school which is expected after they finish can foster their family/tribe back.
Potential of Zakat
Chairman of BAZNAS Jambi Province, Aminullah Hamid said the potential of zakat from the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) in Jambi Province Government reached Rp 4 billion per year but not fully explored.
"The potential is large, but in 2016 and then collected Rp2, 5 billion, meaning that only about 55 percent of ASNs paying zakat through BAZNAS Jambi Province," he said.
Therefore, he hopes that the payment of zakat which is planned to be held simultaneously on June 12 starting from the President, the minister and regional head can inspire all parties to channel their zakat.
"Hopefully with the movement to pay zakat simultaneously throughout Indonesia starting from the President, zakat in BAZNAS Jambi will be increasing so that BAZNAS programs such as the provision of capital assistance to effort the alleviate poverty is really directed," he said.
While BAZNAS Jambi has distributed zakat Ramadhan for 600 mustahik in Jambi City. Aminullah explained eight groups of asnaf that are poor, orphan, fisabillilah, mu’alaf, teacher who teach between Maghrib to Isha, guard of mosque and the organizer of the corpse.
Zakat distribution to the mustahik was done symbolically, attended by the governor of Jambi, Sunday (10/6) at the Great Mosque of Al-fallah Jambi City. Aminullah grateful to the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who has issued their zakat to BAZNAS.

Meanwhile, Jambi Governor Zumi Zola said the Provincial Government of Jambi supports BAZNAS in implementing zakat collection to the people of Jambi.
"The zakat payment starts from me and will be implemented also by all ASN scope of Jambi Province and society of Jambi Province in particular I have appealed to all Head of Organization of Regional Device (OPD) to pay zakat, not only myself, but also family and also His ranks are invited to pay zakat, "Zola said when giving Zakat Maal on his personal behalf to the Chairman of BAZNAS Jambi, at his official residence on Tuesday.
Governor explained zakat is one of the pillars of Islam which has to mean, the obligation for every Muslim who is able to pay zakat and a command of Allah SWT which is obligatory for every Muslim and is a form of clearing possessions.
"Zakat is a part of hablum minannas, the relationship between human beings is a form of concern for others in need, the poor, the poor and orphans," he said. The Governor also appealed all regents/mayors in Jambi Province to convey to their respective ranks in the payment of zakat and urged the entire community to immediately pay zakat.
Chairman of the BAZNAS Jambi, said that the handover of zakat by the Governor of Jambi Zumi Zola is a reflection of the handover of zakat maal to the Central BAZNAS at the State Palace conducted by President Jokowi along with the staff.
"Alhamdulillah the Governor of Jambi gave a positive response to the suggestion from President Jokowi to pay zakat maal and then will be followed by all staff in Jambi Provincial Government," said Aminullah.
Aminullah revealed that a portion of zakat from President Jokowi and his cabinet will be handed over to several Provinces in Indonesia, especially the province with Suku Anak Dalam (SAD), including Jambi.
BAZNAS Jambi also said he has coordinated with BAZNAS district of his SAD to immediately distribute zakat from President Jokowi and his cabinet.
"Later we will register all the heads of OPD Jambi Provincial Government to implement zakat maal is in accordance with the property owned. We will report to the Central BAZNAS that the governor of Jambi and the staff have implemented the recommendations submitted by the President," he added.
