
Jakarta, 1 October 2026 – The National Board of Zakat of the Republic of Indonesia (BAZNAS RI) has appointed eight prominent figures from various sectors to serve on the Board of Judges for the BAZNAS Awards 2026. The judges include Prof. Dr. (Ret.) General Dudung Abdurachman, S.E., M.M. from the Presidential Staff Office (KSP); Dr. H. TB. Ace Hasan Syadzily, M.Si., Governor of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas); Prof. Dr. Arif Satria, S.P., M.Si., Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals Association (ICMI) and Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN); Prof. Dr. H. Waryono Abdul Ghafur, S.Ag., M.Ag. from the Ministry of Religious Affairs; Dr. Drs. Agus Fatoni, M.Si. from the Ministry of Home Affairs; Prof. Dr. KH. M. Asrorun Ni’am Sholeh, S.Ag., Lc., M.A. from the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI); Indra Sjafri, S.E., AFC Pro, a sports professional; and Dr. Hj. Arzeti Bilbina Setyawan, S.E., M.A.P., Member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI).
The judges participated in a BAZNAS Plenary Meeting held on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, to discuss the assessment criteria and nominees for the BAZNAS Awards 2026. Chairman of BAZNAS RI, Dr. Ir. H. Sodik Mudjahid, M.Sc., stated that the BAZNAS Awards serve as a form of recognition for stakeholders who have contributed to the management and development of zakat in Indonesia. “The BAZNAS Awards are part of our appreciation for institutions, regional governments, organizations, and individuals who have consistently contributed to zakat management. We seek to recognize those who demonstrate strong commitment and tangible contributions to advancing zakat,” said Sodik. He added that the judging process takes into account a number of criteria to ensure that the award recipients truly reflect meaningful contributions to strengthening the zakat ecosystem. “For this reason, the judging process is essential. We want these awards to be presented objectively, based on clear criteria and measurable contributions, so that the BAZNAS Awards can continue to support efforts to improve zakat management,” he said.
On the same occasion, Ace Hasan Syadzily explained that he was appointed as one of the external judges involved in selecting the recipients of the BAZNAS Awards 2026. Together with BAZNAS leaders, he discussed the criteria as well as the institutions and individuals considered eligible for the awards. “I attended the BAZNAS Plenary Meeting for the judging process of the BAZNAS Awards 2026. I was appointed as one of the external judges to help determine the award recipients,” Ace said in his statement on Wednesday, 30 September 2026. He explained that the discussion focused on determining the criteria and identifying institutions and individuals considered deserving of recognition at the BAZNAS Awards 2026. “We discussed the criteria as well as the institutions and individuals who deserve to receive the BAZNAS Awards 2026,” Ace said. BAZNAS will present hundreds of awards during the BAZNAS Awards 2026. Among them are 20 Grand Award categories whose assessment process involves the external Board of Judges. The involvement of eight prominent figures from different sectors reflects BAZNAS’ efforts to maintain an objective and diverse judging process. The external judges, together with BAZNAS leadership, assess the criteria and nominees based on their contributions to the management and development of zakat in Indonesia.
