Research is one of the important parts of zakat management. Considering the importance of the research, Institut Manajemen Zakat (IMZ) invited BAZNAS to discuss it on Thursday, June 8, 2023 (08/06/2023). The meeting was attended by the Research and Assessment Supervisor of IMZ and the Directorate of Research and Development of BAZNAS.

Agung as the representative of IMZ said that IMZ would like to involve researchers in the field of zakat to collaborate so that people can widely know about the development of zakat management in Indonesia. He further said there is an opportunity to conduct research from the data owned by BAZNAS and IMZ. The research results can eventually provide policy recommendations for each institution or stakeholder in the field of zakat.

In addition, Agung said that there is also an opportunity to organize a forum or community to conduct research related to zakat. Zakat research institutions that initially run independently will strengthen each other's studies and research in the future. To further increase literacy related to zakat, zakat institutions can also collaborate in holding regular joint studies related to topics that are developing in the world of zakat nowadays.

BAZNAS supports this initiative to strengthen research on zakat. The Directorate of Research and Development of BAZNAS has also been actively conducting various research such as strategic studies, policy briefs, working papers, and other forms of research. This meeting is expected to trigger further zakat research discussions with other zakat management institutions so that research on zakat will be more useful for zakat management development in Indonesia.
