On Wednesday (13/07/2022), the Directorate of Research and Development of the National Amil Zakat Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BAZNAS RI) released the Official News of the Study on the Zakat Potential of BAZNAS Province. This study will specifically review the potential of BAZNAS Provinces throughout Indonesia. To increase the number of ZIS collections in each region, it is necessary to know the mapping of its potential so that the strategy can be applied correctly.

The components calculated in the study of the unique potential of the Provincial BAZNAS refer to the laws and regulations related to the authority to collect BAZNAS Province, which includes zakat from provincial civil servant (ASN), zakat from Regional State-Own Company (BUMD)/ Private-Own Company (BUMS), zakat from universities/ universities, and zakat from schools. Senior High School (SMA) or it's equivalent as well as retail zakat proportional to non-ASN income.

The calculations in this study indicate that the total potential for special zakat for BAZNAS Provinces in Indonesia reaches Rp. 4.37 trillion. The highest zakat potential of Provincial BAZNAS is in the Java region, namely BAZNAS of East Java Province, amounting to Rp. 547.4 billion, followed by BAZNAS of West Java Province and BAZNAS of Central Java Province with potentials of Rp. 535.4 billion and Rp. 505.4 billion, respectively.
