In line with the mandate of the law to strengthen institutional relations, BAZNAS held a meeting with sharia economics and zakat waqf academics from various universities in Indonesia. This meeting was held on Monday, June 21, 2022 (21/06/2022) that was attended by 25 academics.

This meeting began with the presentation of materials and plans for institutional strengthening that was presented by the Director of Puskas BAZNAS. Institutional strengthening initiated by BAZNAS is in the form of synergy activities in zakat management. This activity consists of various programs such as the Zakat Research Forum, collaborative research and development of zakat, cooperation in organizing webinar series, national or international seminars related to zakat, development of zakat management laboratory (LMZ), and BAZNAS Internship Program (BIP) related to MBKM.

The discussion was insightful and went smoothly, BAZNAS received various recommendations and suggestions from academics regarding zakat management in Indonesia. This discussion ended with an agreement in the forum that supports the institutional strengthening programs initiated by BAZNAS. In line to optimize the role of the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) in the college, a special regulation is needed as proposed in the discussion. In addition, there will be certification of expertise for zakat waqf students and training related to the zakat management laboratory. Furthermore, zakat management will also involve the students from the zakat waqf study program in the future.
