Prof. Dr Bambang Sudibyo MBA. CA ends his term as Chairman of the National Board of Zakat Republic of Indonesia (BAZNAS RI) for the 2015-2020 run after handing over the position to BAZNAS Commissioners for the 2020-2025 period at the BAZNAS Office, Jakarta, Wednesday (30/12).

Together with 10 other BAZNAS members, Bambang has successfully carried out two roles of BAZNAS, namely as a coordinator of national zakat management and as a zakat operator in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 23 of 2011.

In its role as the national zakat coordinator, BAZNAS has succeeded in encouraging the strengthening of the BAZNAS institution at the provincial and district or city levels as well as the National and regional scale Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ). Bambang has also proven capable of being the captain of the world zakat movement by serving as Secretary-General of the World Zakat Forum (WZF) in 2017-2020. As of 2020, the membership of the World Zakat Forum has numbered 40 countries from 5 continents.

As a zakat operator, Bambang has led BAZNAS to develop into a more professional zakat management organization with innovative programs and has succeeded in increasing public trust by increasing the number of zakat, infaq and alms (ZIS) collections.

Every year, ZIS collected by BAZNAS RI has grown at an average of 33.7% from 2015 to 2019. Throughout 2020, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, BAZNAS RI continues to achieve significant increases and can exceed the target of Rp380billion. The national zakat collection recorded by BAZNAS RI, District or City BAZNAS and Amil Zakat Institution (LAZ) at various levels under the coordination of BAZNAS also continues to increase.

In the last five years of Bambang Sudibyo's leadership, BAZNAS has innovated by establishing program institutions that strengthen BAZNAS's role in poverty reduction. A total of 11 BAZNAS program institutions in the fields of social humanity, education and economy have provided benefits for 1.4 million mustahik people in various regions of Indonesia and abroad.

In the institutional field, BAZNAS has strengthened its spirit of transparency and professionalism through the Unqualified Opinion (WTP) for annual financial reports. BAZNAS also achieved the quality management standard through ISO 9001: 2015, and for the first time obtained the ISO 37001 anti-bribery management system certificate and ISO 27001: 2013 information security management system audit certificate.

Not only that, but BAZNAS has also successfully won various national and international awards such as the Global Islamic Finance Award (GIFA) three years in a row, as well as recognition for its innovations, one of which is with 3 awards for Top Digital Award 2020.

Since 2015, BAZNAS has led 11 members consisting of 3 people from government elements and 8 people from community elements with a collegial collective leadership system. Now, the position of Chairman of BAZNAS is held by Noor Achmad who was elected as Bambang Sudibyo's successor for the 2020-2025 period.

Members for the 2020-2025 period consist of the Chairman, Noor Achmad; Deputy Chairman, Mokhammad Makhdum; Muhammad Nadratuzzaman Hosen; Zainulbahar Noor; Saidah Sakwan; Rizaludin Kurniawan; Nur Chamdani; Achmad Sudrajat, Kamaruddin Amin; Suminto and Muhamad Hudori.
