Amil plays the most important actors in the zakat movement. Amil is responsible for collecting funds from muzaki and channelling these funds to mustahik. Having a noble and crucial responsibility, amil certification is undoubtedly needed to ensure the quality of managing zakat funds. Therefore, BAZNAS initiated the Lembaga Sertifikasi Profesi (LSP) that is based on the Decree of the Head of Baznas Number 178 of 2017.

Since its establishment in 2017, LSP BAZNAS have issued 731 competency certificates from seven certification schemes. Nevertheless, there are questions from several parties regarding the benefits and effects of amil certification, and hence, a measured study is needed to answer the impact of this amil certification. This study aims to measure the impact of Amil Certification on amil's competence. The objects of this study are BAZNAS employees who have taken certification.

It is expected that this study can provide a new perspective and evaluation for the management of amil certification. The data and analysis that are presented by this study are expected to help the performance of zakat institutions in implementing amil certification so that there is a good strategy in running the amil certification program.
