The 4th International Conference of Zakat (The 4th ICONZ) that is going to be held tomorrow aims to address the challenges faced by zakat institutions from both technical and fundamental aspects related to the practice of zakat management in this so-called digital era, during COVID-19 outbreak and in the new normal period of COVID-19. The theme ‘ZakaTech for Inclusive Development’ is expected to be explored in a 2-day conference.

The first day of ICONZ expects to provide plenary session 1 with the topic; The Role of Islamic Social Finance in Promoting Inclusive Development in Time of New Normal COVID-19. Speakers from at least 4 different countries; Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria and the United Kingdom, are expected to be in this session. Their presentation is to translate the theme of the 4th ICONZ.

Furthermore, in Day 1 of the 4th ICONZ, the parallel session that presents around 20 speakers from different countries, will be conducted. There are various interesting topics offered in this session, from point of view to the practical insight and model development.

In the final day of the 4th ICONZ, the event offers 2 plenary sessions with the topic; ‘The Use of Technology in Zakat Management in time of New Normal COVID-19’ and ‘Blockchain Technology for Zakat Institutions: Theory and Practices’. Both the topics are deemed necessary to understand ZakaTech for inclusive development.

In the final day, the 4th ICONZ committee also is expected to announce the best paper presenters, and most importantly, the 4th ICONZ 2020 resolutions. Despite it will be conducted virtually, the number of more than 400 participants from more than 20 countries were registered online. The 4th ICONZ thus expects its success, notably in achieving its objective to contextualise zakat with the current circumstances.
